About the Founder
Prior to pursuing her dream of being a makeup artist in the beauty, fashion, music and
entertainment industry, Deida worked as a paralegal for the Public Guardian's Office of Chicago Cook County.
During the day she advocated for abused and neglected children, but her love for makeup led her to moonlight
as a makeup artist at night and on weekends. It didn't take her long to trade in her cushy, nine-to-five job
for a more creative and rewarding career in makeup artistry. By assisting some of Chicago's renowned makeup
artists, Deida later signed with Ford, Inc. as an artist in 2000.
In fact, it was her love and passion for makeup artistry that gave her the courage to take
a leap of faith. She left the Windy City to further her career as a makeup artist in Los Angeles, CA. While
honing her craft on everything from editorial shoots to music videos, Deida has worked with basketball superstar
Michael Jordan and his wife Juanita, Shane O'Neil, wife of Shaquille O'Neil; and Gary Payton among other NBA
stars and their wives. Her clients have included hip-hop stars Bow Wow, Ludacris, DMX, GhostFace and the Philadelphia
rap group, The Roots.
In June 2005, Deida moved back to Chicago to launch Reel Beauty, Inc., but she continues to
touch the faces of the famous. Currently, she is the key makeup artist for Michelle Williams formerly of
Destiny's Child and she was one of nine artists selected to work as a celebrity makeup artist on Oprah Winfrey's
Legends Weekend 2005.
According to Deida, "Reel Beauty" is her way of giving back to the community.
